We were almost home when Kirsty suddenly started screaming, I peeked round the front of the buggy to see a wasp on her face. I tried to flick it off but realised it had stung her and the sting was still embedded in her skin. Flicked again and it flew off. My baby girl was screaming so much. I got such a HUGE fright - as did she!!! Quickly, I whisked her out of the buggy and cuddled her like crazy as she cried.
Thankfully a neighbour heard and came over to check on us. She had a sting relief spray which we dabbed on the sting - it seemed to bring relief fast. I continued home, only about a 5min walk - if that - by the time I got home, Kirsty's lip was swollen. It was after 5pm so we called NHS24. The nurse assured me if Kirsty was to have a reaction - it would have been immediate. She gave some advice on how to treat the sting and to try and apply ice. Of course, Kirsty wasn't happy about having ice applied so I popped 2 ice cubes of pear into the mesh feeder and let her suck on that. It wasn't exactly on the sting site but it helped her lip come down a bit.
I'm so thankful my baby girl is ok. I don't think I have ever been so scared in my life
OMG! How is she doing now? Poor little girl. I have never been stung myself and I would flip out if Jack was. I thought he got a mosquito bite the other day and thought that was bad. Hope she is all better now :)
ReplyDeleteBless her, she was fine (apart from swollen lip/cheek) within about 5 mins. Such a trooper!
ReplyDeleteAwh that's good.
ReplyDeleteHow scary for you! And Kirsty, poor thing I'm sure she had no idea what had happened. :(
ReplyDeleteMatthew had a few rough nights in his crib I think due to congestion and/or learning to roll (he's a tummy sleeper). Past few nights I've got 7-8 hour stretches out of him, so that is not too bad. I think I am going to have to cut out his evening nap and and do bedtime earlier though. He wants to take a nap too late in the evening and then stays up too late. What age did Kirsty go to just two naps? I'm hoping that it might help him take longer naps again...most of the time they are just 45 minutes.
Oh no! I'm so happy she's doing much better. How is the swelling today? I can't even begin to imagine how scared both of you were.
ReplyDeleteShan & Mari - sorry I didn't see your comments :(
ReplyDeleteI need to get back to regular blogging!
Shan - I Facebook'd you!
Mari - the swelling was gone but lunchtime the following day, bless her!
