13 weeks!

Not too much to update this week. Except for my previous post about the scan, of course!!! Spent this weekend up at my parents which was really nice. However I was norty and bought little baby a snowsuit for 0-3 months of age as he/she is due at the end of January... cold times!!

It's been so so muggy hot here since approx Wednesday. It's so horribly unbearable for me. I wish we'd get a huge downpour of rain to clear the air!!

And so onto little baby - can't call him/her a bean anymore!!

This is your final week in the first trimester and your little weed continues to grow and grow and grow. Of the three trimesters, this one has been the most important for your little one’s development. Assuming you’ve carefully adopted a healthy diet, continue to exercise and get ample rest, your little one is set up perfectly for even more growth and development in tri-two! Way to go! He or she now weighs about 2.5 ounces and is roughly 3.5 inches in length. Little hairs, known as lanugo, will start to cover their body this week, as their sense of taste and smell are further refined. Their cozy little amniotic sac is also increasing in size and mass as it continues to fill with more fluid.

Yup, I had my u/s today. It was amazing but oh so very short. She only spent about 5 minutes scanning. As soon as she put the scanner on my tummy, baby was there. She got a shock she found him/her so quickly

The baby kept putting its hands over its eyes! Then it was holding up one hand, i could make out each bone along each finger! It was fantastic!!! When she tried to get the pic for us, baby shot off the screen Was soooo funny!!!!!

So here you go, click on the picture to see it full size:

12 weeks!! WOW!!!

Where has the time gone? We're officially 12 weeks today!! We are well into countdown to out scan (Wednesday) woohoo!! I can't wait to see this little baby and know for sure he/she is growing well and active!!

I seemed to have a tummy growth spurt on Wed/Thurs this week, even Stewart said I looked bigger, bless him! He's very protective of me and little baby!

My dentist has kindly agreed to let me drop back to NHS care so I can take advantage of my exemption for dental treatment (because I'm on a payment plan, he wasn't obliged to let me use the exemption). So this saves us £17 per month until baby's 1st birthday!! Excellent news!! He said it's no problem for me to go back onto the plan after that!

Jellybean update!!:

Even though your little Einstein’s body is still growing quite rapidly 2 inches long right now, the overall super-speedy growth of their amazing brain continues to leave the head proportionately larger than the body— and is actually slightly more than one third of their total body mass! The head and neck are still straightening at this point as can be seen by their little chin lifting off of the chest. Your baby is also actively rehearsing “breathing” by using amniotic fluid to prepare the lungs for future air respiration.

The big news: your little pooper is now officially going to need diapers! Although a majority of the waste produced is transferred to the mother’s system for discharge (to avoid having it linger in the amniotic sac), some urine is released to the amniotic fluid and your baby will actually breathe it in before it passing it on to your for discharge. Not to worry, urine--in this particular form, is completely harmless to your baby.

11 weeks

So, we're almost into the "safe zone". 11 weeks huh? Where's it going to! Stewart & I are back to work on Monday Not looking forward to it at all. It'll be nice to be back into routine, I just hope the sicky feeling doesn't get any worse. Apples seem to give me lovely indigestion, annoyingly!

And now for little Jellybean!

Maybe you’ve noticed… your baby is a super-duper grower! Your lil' fetus will be gaining a substantial amount of weight this week and has already achieved fruit-size-status comparable to a plum. What's more, your little scientist is already starting to explore their body, focusing most intently on touching their head, and especially their face and mouth. Their mouth in particular will provide them with hours of entertainment. This happens not only because your baby is gaining coordination, and is therefore able to move a hand on command, but also because their palms have gained sensation and can actually “feel” what it touches. They're also developing their swallow reflex this week. And lastly, your baby's smelling and other olfactory senses will begin developing this week, which when combined with the maturing taste buds, will provide your baby with their first experiences of taste and smell.

First hospital appointment

Today was our first hospital appointment. All went boringly well, blood work was taken, loads of questions about medical history of both Stewart & I and our families, height, weight, and blood pressure.... done!

The midwife said "you're scan in 2 weeks will confirm you are pregnant and give you your EDD (estimated due date)".... confirm if I'm pregnant.... OMG that made me laugh! I'll be 12 and half weeks at scan time. Can't wait to see our little Jellybean!

Well, he/she didn't like the bridie I had for lunch today, I've felt icky all afternoon... either that or I took bad to having to get up and dressed so early... Gawd help me when we go back to work next week!!!

10 weeks

Not much to report this week... except I managed a 2 course dinner last night and felt great after it!! Long may it continue!!! We have 1 more week of hols from work. This week we didn't really do very much aside from going out for our anniversary lunch on Tuesday and we went to see Hancock @ the cinema on Thursday.

We have our first hospital appointment on Wednesday (9th)!!

How about little Jellybean?

Your astonishingly tiny baby has been hard at work growing as fast as possible?almost doubling in size in the past three weeks! Amazingly, you?re in for a repeat size doubling performance within the next three weeks! Your tiny champion still weighs less than a quarter of an ounce but has already completed the most critical stage of their development. Using Doppler technology, your doctor or gynecologist can let you hear their tiny rapid fetal heartbeats this week (145-165 beats per minute!). Chances for miscarriage are greatly reduced when the heartbeat can be detected, so take a sigh of relief if you?ve been needing one?it hasn?t been an easy ten weeks! What?s more, they?re getting ready to make their first baby poop! Your little one?s major organ systems are developing, including a functioning digestive tract capable of moving food all the way through their bowels. The final shiny gold star on their fetal behavior chart for the week: your little scrapper has already developed defense mechanisms to protect them on reflex!

Poop?? You mean... Jellybean is gonna poop inside me?? In the amniotic fluid he/she swims in? NICE!! What a clever little Jellybean!!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is Stewart & I's 2nd wedding anniversary So we went out for a bar lunch (lunch is better for me than dinner right now!!!). It was a delicious meal, but I've been plagued with indigestion since

It's all for baby McIntyre though Who would have thought that something so tiny and with so much growing to do yet... can be loved sooooo much already? How is that possible? It's utterly mind-blowing!
