Update on potty

Kirsty has amazed me with her potty training! I'm so proud of my little girl!

Day 1: 5 out of 6 in the potty

Day 2: 2 accidents out of about a million pees!

Day 3: 2 accidents at grans house

Day 4: NO ACCIDENTS!!!!! We had been to the garage with the car, off to toddlers, back to the garage for the car, over to school for school run and all the while she stayed dry!

Today she has playgroup so I'm unsure how she will get on but she went armed with her potty <3

Potty training has begun!!

Since I've had to pull out of my craft fair on Saturday, (signed up for another next week instead though!), we decided to go for potty training Kirsty, starting today. She's had 6 pee's today, 5 of which were in the potty, only 1 accident. I'm so so impressed and proud of her!!!!

Kirsty has the sickies :(

Kirsty complained of a sore tummy around dinnertime and didn't eat much dinner at all. She woke up around 11pm and puked :( She was sick a few times til around 1am then fell asleep again. She whimpered out a few times in her sleep as her tummy was crampy. Poor girl. She's just after having 2 colds within 2 to 3 weeks.

Reduced appetite

Kirsty used to eat quite a lot but for the last month she mucks about with her food, esp dinner at night she hardly eats dinner now. She used to eat a bigger than toddler-size meal plus 2 yogs n fruit.

I can tell she's lost weight. She was 29lbs in Feb n I had her weighed on Thurs she's now 32lbs. Not much gain but I'm positive she gained more and lost some. By no means is she skin n bone but its so different to have her hardly eat :(

Flu Jag

OMFG I'm traumatised. I took Kirsty for her flu jag just now. They offered to put it in arm or leg so I opted for leg so I could cuddle her right in. The nurse stuck the needle in her leg and Kirsty wriggled like crazy trying to get it off her!! Bloody nurse near took a heart attack trying to hold the leg still, push the plunger and remove the needle.

Then the nurse stupidly said "oh dear god that would have hurt her". FFS!!! Had she said nowt I'd have been none the wiser, yes it was sore but all over & done with. But she had to go and say that!! I've to take her back in 4wks for a 2nd dose (apparently the under 5s get 2 doses the very first time they get it)

LeapFrog Scribble & Write

OMG we just back from town and hubby bought something in primark, the bag was on the back seat of the car beside Kirsty., but it was upside down writing to her. She shouted mummy it's W!! I said pardon cos I thought "you did not just say W" (like double-u how we say it!!!!), she said it's W on the bag...... it was the M in Primark but upside down so it WAS a W!!!! I'm absolutely astounded!!!!

Recommend this toy to everyone!!!!

Playgroup update

Tuesday past was the first day back at playgroup after the week off during the October holidays. I was sure we would experience regression and Kirsty would need help to re-settle again. But she surprised me by running right in!! She did great!! However, yesterday was not so great :( As we entered the playgroup hall, she turned to me and said "mummy please don't go to work" :( She really knows how to tug on those heartstrings!!

She cried as I left her but the playleader didn't phone me during the session so I know she settled down. She got upset when I went back for her again.

It's really bizarre... I see this all the time in my line of work (childminder), but it's something completely different when it is YOU in this situation. With parents who bring the child/ren to me for care, I try to encourage them to keep the goodbyes short and sweet so it doesn't prolong the upset. It's easier on the child. But being THE parent with the upset child, I now know it's not so easy to just walk away. It goes against all my motherly intuition to just "walk away", even though I know myself it is best. The child usually stops crying  fairly soon after the parent leaves.

I just pray that she settles quickly as it's so so hard being in this situation :(

School playground

Today we went to collect a mindee from school and usually Kirsty is good at sticking beside me. She might wander to play on the painted alphabet (it's painted on the playground tar) but she only goes for a minute or so then comes back and it's about 15 footsteps from me.

However, today we had to go round to the back of the school. The bell rang and I said to Kirsty stay beside me as it gets very busy in this area. Mindee came out, next thing I know, Kirsty is gone. My stomach dropped, my heart raced and I felt physically sick!! She was only "lost" for about 5 minutes but it was the longest and most scary minutes of my life. She had wandered back round the corner, through the gates into the next playground. Grrrr!! Needless to say she got a stern telling off!

Lately I have been making a lot of crochet hats and Kirsty wanted her very own bear hat, cute huh!!

Playgroup update

Kirsty had her first proper successful session at playgroup today!

I took her down for 9:30 (it starts at 9:15 but I only realised this on the way down, however in hindsight it helped as she saw all the kids playing already when we arrived). She was mega shy and stood behind me, hiding from her teacher, but I took her to play with stuff and stayed 15mins, then I left.

As I left she cried :( So i stood in the corridor and listened and she stopped crying within 5mins. She asked her teacher for nankie which was in her bag and that was her happy until I went back for her at 11:45!! Her teacher was very impressed. Lots of praise from my lil mindee, and daddy when he got in from work. So hopefully be the same on Thurs ?

Playgroup!

Kirsty starts Playgroup on Thursday!!! I'm really looking forward to her having something to do which is just *hers*. Her special thing. She seems very excited too!! Hopefully she will be as enthusiastic when we go and it's time for me to leave her!!!

Note to self: NEVER give Kirsty Kiwi Fruit EVER AGAIN.

 

She was moaning at 7am, not her usual wakey up self where she sings and chatters. So I got up, opened her door and she said "mummy I got a pooy". Yeah..... skitters from neck to toe. Poor wee soul. She had Kiwi after dinner last night.

Playgroup Induction

Today was Kirsty's induction at playgroup. We were there for an hour, whilst the kids played the mummies were introduced to the teachers and explained to all about how playgroup runs, etc. She starts on 15th September! I can't wait, she needs something which is "hers" and special just for her. Plus she needs time away from mummy!!

3 lbs off!!

I nearly fell off the scales in shock at slimming class tonight - 3lbs off!!!

What with being away in Manchester at the weekend, and eating out both Friday/Saturday nights, I am amazed!! Monday I wasn't very good but yesterday was ok, and today I am back on track. I will lose this belly!!

This has been a hellish day. Kirsty was running into the kitchen fell and face-planted the floor. This is the result:

Slimming World

Last Wednesday (22nd) I joined Slimming World. By no means am I looking to lose a drastic amount of weight, but I do wish to be healthier and more comfortable in my clothing. I am approximately 1½ to 2 stone heavier than before I had Kirsty. If I can get back to or close to my pre-baby weight I will be very happy.

 

I have found the plan surprisingly easy to follow and stick to, thankfully! Otherwise it wouldn't work, I have zero willpower! Last night was my first weigh-in and I was 100% sure I had gained weight or at best, stayed the same.... however, I lost 2½ lbs!! I am very pleased!! Onto week 2!!!

Woody is lost :(

Kirsty & I just went to tesco for a few bits. She had her Woody doll, she sat in one of those ride-on cars whilst I spoke to someone. A child had a turn of the ride-on car (parent beside the child), they went off (no idea if they went home or inside the store)..... Woody was gone.
I don't for one second blame the child but the parent?! Who would let their child swipe a toy that is not theirs? Maybe I'm too kind but I'd have took the toy instore and handed it in after having looked about me first to see if any kids were around to check with their parents if it belonged to them.

Kirsty is heartbroken :'(

Potty Training

Today we decided to try some potty training. Yesterday I took Kirsty into town to choose her very own "big girl panties".

However.... after 12 pees on the floor between 7am and 12noon, I have decided to wait a few more months! She is not ready yet. Gosh it was hard work!!!

Playgroup

I have bitten the bullet and enrolled Kirsty into playgroup, due to start in September. She will go 2 mornings a week! It's bittersweet - I'm looking forward to her exploring the world without me but at the same time... my baby is growing up to fast for my liking!!

Sore Ear

Kirsty has woken up with a sore ear (right one) again this morning. The same thing happened to the same ear 2 weeks ago and I had linked it to her getting her back molars in as top & bottom came in together. But they seem to be fully through the gum now, so I don't know if this pain is linked to her teeth this time or not.

Poor baby. She has hardly eaten today and been quiet and docile. Hopefully tmor she is better.

Nursery

I'm checking out a local nursery, wondering if one or two sessions (morning or afternoon for a few hrs) per week might benefit Kirsty. For routine, nursery structure, and getting away from me for a few hrs. However, I forget childcare is so expensive :( It's £20 per morning or afternoon session. For one session a week it's £100 a month :(

Add to that, most nurseries ask for a minimum of 2 sessions per week, doubling that to £200 a month! Hmmm back to the drawing board on this!

Same!!

We were sat outside my school-run child's house this morning waiting for them to come out. And Kirsty kept saying "mummy it's the same as ours..... same, see?..... it's the same"

I couldn't figure out what she was talking about but then it clicked.... we were parked behind a Ford van, our car is a Ford focus. She was meaning the Ford badge on the van and my steering wheel!!! I was amazed!!

NEVER NEVER EVER give a child a toy which will mean the world to them, an hour before bed..... EVER. The End.

My lesson for today is that I need to become more of a selfish bitch and stop worrying about hurting people's feelings.

I just checked Kirsty's mouth to see if there is any progress on her 2 year molars yet... the top right and bottom left ones have a teeny corner through the gum!! Come on, you can do it!!!

Peek-a-boo!

Kirsty loves the Happyland toys from The Early Learning Centre. And often stands the figures so that they are peeking out the windows.... see the little lady inside the toy shop peeking out? And that big teddy reindeer on the outside looking in at the lady?? So cute!

First proper haircut

Kirsty had her first proper haircut this afternoon. Gosh how she looks so grown up :( Scary!!





 

Finally updated my pregnancy diary!

Yes, I am ashamed to admit that I have ONLY JUST finished writing my pregnancy diary! How awful!! Granted everything was on this blog but for the past 2yrs I have frequently thought "what if my blog crashes and I lose it all". I really should have done that ages and ages ago. I would have been devastated if I had lost all the information!!

The Singing Kettle

Today Kirsty & I went to The Singing Kettle at the McRobert Centre. Kirsty has never been to or seen anything like TSK and so I wasn't sure how she would react nor has she been to a theatre type setting or to watch a show. However, she LOVED it!!!!! She thoroughly enjoyed herself, really got into character, singing along, dancing away and doing all the actions! The show was 45minutes, then a 15minute interval followed by another 45minutes.... the first 45minutes would have been ample for her, but she did very well!

Trip to town

Mum & dad came down this weekend and it was really lovely to have them here. We took a trip into town today as Kirsty needed a few pairs of jammies (she has grown so much lately!!!) plus some summer clothing. However, she took great delight as we passed any underwear sections in shops by shouting fairly loudly "PANTIES!!!!!"

Yeah... embarrassed mummy!! Was funny & cute though!!

New shoes!

Today we had Kirsty's feet re-measured. She has really settled down about having her feet measured, she used to wriggle, cry and virtually refuse to have the ladies measure them, but now she's ok. She will sit and wait to see "what number" her feet are!

So, she has grown from a 5G to a 5 and 1/2 F. We decided to get her some more summery type shoes and went for Clarks doodles.
