Big Girl car seat!
Kirsty's new car seat arrived this morning. I wont be using it until she gains 2lbs more as she isn't at the weight for it yet. But we thought we'd sit in it to see what it's like...

Teething & appetite?!
Kirsty has scoffed all 3 meals today which is a HUGE improvement on the past 3-4weeks where she has been having a few spoonfuls here and there.
I just felt in her mouth last night and felt nothing at all, her teeth had disappeared back under the gum again, but felt again after she ate her tea just now and they are deffo popping through!!
I wonder if them popping up has helped her appetite? Could be coincidence but I wondered?!

New buggy - Babystyle Oyster!
We collected our new buggy just after lunch and being as impatient as I am, I took Kirsty out a walk just now (in the p*ssing rain LOL!)
I LOVE IT!!!!!!! It's the best £225 I have ever spent. It's such an amazing buggy. Very easy & smooth to push. No issue with my fear about it flopping to one side when going up the kerbs. It's very sturdy!
I got a few photos which I'll update with after Kirsty wakes up (she zonked after 5 mins in the buggy!) I was half way down the road when I remembered the seat unit can parent-face! I had her forward facing. Doh @ me!
I'm yet to figure out how to get the bug net out of the hood as it has one integrated which is FAB! The bar on the seat unit is very low down which confuses me, I was sure I had it upside down or something with it being so low, but it's def in the right place. Kirsty was fine with sitting in it too! I just had Kirsty out without a coat on as the apron fully covers her, then she had her raincover over. She's snug as a bug!
All set to go on our walk:

Kirsty scared us this evening!!
Normally we hear Kirsty shuffling about her cot in her sleep or giving a big sigh every so often. But tonight we haven't heard a thing from her since she fell asleep. We tried listening close to the monitor, we usually would hear her breathing... nothing.
Both Stewart & I started to panic, but I just *knew* she was ok, but we still couldn't settle. So we had the dilemma... go up and check on her - opening her door guarantees her waking up - or sit and worry more. We decided to go up and open her door... she didn't flinch! That really scared us, so I walked up to her cot (the floorboards creak like mad!!), and she didn't move. Then she gave a HUGE sigh and scared the daylights out of us!!
She must be really tired and in a deep sleep, bless her!!

Kirsty was cute in her bath
Today I bought Kirsty a set of bath ducks in Asda, it's a mummy duck with 2 baby ducks which sit on her back.
I went in the bath with her tonight and looked at her... she had a baby duck head in her mouth, sucking like it was a dummy, whilst playing with other bath toys
OMG she was so funny!!

Ahhhh Heaven!!
Tonight DH gave Kirsty her bedtime bottle and put her to bed - first time ever!!!
Whilst he did that, I ran a lovely deep, hot bubble bath and lay in it for 40 mins reading my book. *heaven*
I haven't had a bath by myself since February 3rd of this year!! I sound like a dirty bint huh?! Kirsty & I bath together most nights you see

Health Visitor check-in today
3 weeks ago, Kirsty was 17lb 9oz, today she is 18lb 1oz!!! So she is gaining again. She was 70cm long!! she hasn't been measured since her 2month check. She was 52cm at birth.
I asked about is she having enough/too much milk, eating enough solids, etc. The HV said for a baby on 3 solids meals per day, the average is 1pint of milk, which is around 20oz. So she said Kirsty is about there - she drink around 20-25oz per day.
About her not eating much solids, the HV said to keep offering and if she doesn't eat then she's obviously not hungry. BUt she did say not to offer a yogurt at lunch if she doesn't eat her savoury as yogurt is in the same food group as her milk (calcium/dairy etc). As long as I know she likes what I'm offering, just let her eat or not eat - which is what I'm doing.
She said once Kirsty does start eating more, to cut back her 11am and 3pm bottles maybe by an oz or 2 so she will take more food. But not to cut it yet as her milk is what's keeping her going seeing as she's kinda off food.
Asked about her toenails on her big toes as they don't grow across the toe but moreso upwards and are breaking very easily, very short and nastily. She isn't worried just yet but showed me a way to file them to encourage them to grow across the toe instead of upwards. And they will re-evaluate in a few months.

Urgh!!
Urgh I'm about driven to distraction!!! Kirsty is good at going to sleep by herself in her cot, however she rolls onto her tummy and sticks her leg(s) through the bars and gets stuck, it hurts and she cries.
Like Daddy, Like Daughter!!
My lil sweetie pie is snoring her lil head off!! I can hear her through the monitor!!

Waybuloo excitement!
And this is her new way of moving about - roll onto tummy and scoot round in a circle using her arms. Then towards the end, her new obsession, rubbing her hand on the wooden flooring

Kirsty had her aftn nap in the buggy outside today, so a short while ago I went out to bring in the buggy, she was in the activity centre so I thought I'd knock on the window so she could see me.
Now she keeps looking out the window and whining for me!! Even tho I'm beside her!!
Bless her soul!!

Had a meeting with my boss today
It's official, I am on extended Maternity Leave!
I'm due back 11th Jan 2010 but will get my hols then and go back 8th Feb. Which means I have Kirsty's first Christmas & birthday at home
I just wish I didn't have to go back at all, but this is fab for now!

My poor poor girl :(
This afternoon, Kirsty & I took a walk down to MILs for a visit. We left to walk home at around 4:45pm and Kirsty was sitting in her buggy playing with a toy. I was walking/pushing quite fast as it was so close to dinnertime I wanted home quickly.
We were almost home when Kirsty suddenly started screaming, I peeked round the front of the buggy to see a wasp on her face. I tried to flick it off but realised it had stung her and the sting was still embedded in her skin. Flicked again and it flew off. My baby girl was screaming so much. I got such a HUGE fright - as did she!!! Quickly, I whisked her out of the buggy and cuddled her like crazy as she cried.
Thankfully a neighbour heard and came over to check on us. She had a sting relief spray which we dabbed on the sting - it seemed to bring relief fast. I continued home, only about a 5min walk - if that - by the time I got home, Kirsty's lip was swollen. It was after 5pm so we called NHS24. The nurse assured me if Kirsty was to have a reaction - it would have been immediate. She gave some advice on how to treat the sting and to try and apply ice. Of course, Kirsty wasn't happy about having ice applied so I popped 2 ice cubes of pear into the mesh feeder and let her suck on that. It wasn't exactly on the sting site but it helped her lip come down a bit.
I'm so thankful my baby girl is ok. I don't think I have ever been so scared in my life

It was inevitable...
... Kirsty is sick, for the very first time in her 7m life. She has a cold, poor baby!
She was very unsettled through the night last night. I think I went in to her about 5 or 6 times between 10pm and 2am. By 3am I gave her calpol and milk and she settled until 6am. I'm dreading tonight. I hope she can settle enough at bedtime to get a good few hours (or all night?!) of solid sleep. She's really needing a good stretch, bless her.
I am armed with baby survival kit: thermometer, supersoft tissues, vaseline (to help prevent cracked skin on her lil button nose), Olbas Oil and Calpol.... and most importanty.... mummy cuddles.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery from this for her.
In other news, she is still doing fabulously with her bottles. She loves her milk!! Such a champ!!
