5 weeks!

Today we are 5 weeks pregnant I've been feeling less bloated the last few days, still peeing heaps but hey it's all good! Not much more to update really!

So how's beano doing?

The changes to your growing embryo are not quite as drastic this week as they've been in the last few weeks. Growth is now largely focused on their little head, which is starting to develop much more rapidly than the rest of their tiny body. This is because their amazing brain is undergoing some very crucial and rapid development in order to effectively regulate their heart rate, blood circulation, and other vital functions. As for the rest of their miniature body, what were simple limb buds last week are limb flippers this week and the tail is more expressed. Amazingly, within a mere five weeks your little miracle is already developing the rudimentary forms of their liver, pancreas, lungs, stomach and nasal pits while their little heart is already increasing its circulation. Your baby is now a whopping 4-6mm in length.

My first doctor appointment

All veryyyyyyyyyyyy boring, he didn't even do a urine or blood test! How disappointing! Just gave the talk of no lifting heavy, no eating pate or cream cheeses. Make sure meat is thoroughly cooked, and be careful with chilled foods as the temp of the foods rises between you picking it off the supermarket shelf and taking it home.

I should hear from my midwife within the next 4 weeks.... that's it. So now I'm in limbo until I hear from the midwife... oh well... on with the knitting of baby blankies!

Amaryllis update!

here it is, so gorgeous!!

4 weeks 3 days

This little one is starting to make his/her presence well known already! Talk about bloating... sheesh!! Eating loads, hungry all the time, peeing every 10 minutes (quite literally!), and don't get me started on the belching!! It's fine though, all part of the baking baby process!! No one told me that trapped wind is very common in pregnancy... my tummy has been soooo sore all day.

I've booked my first doctor appointment for Thursday morning @ 7am... way too early! Not quite sure what the first visit entails but it should be "fun"

So, what's going on at 4 wks?

By the end of this week the round and pointy ends of your little pear-shaped baby will be slightly more exaggerated and their body will look more like that of a miniature manatee. Despite your baby not looking particularly human without any eyes, ears or mouth, the earliest developments of what will become the larynx, internal ear, and eye lens are already forming, although you?d have to be a trained expert to recognize them for what they?re going to be in the future. Likewise, tiny bumps are forming on your little embryo which will eventually be their cute little arms, elbows, fingers, legs, knees and toes. What?s more your little swimmer will have a teeny tiny tail by the end of this week-- but don?t worry, it?s just the end of their developing spinal cord! A microscopic photo would reveal what seems to be their vertebrae filling out the spine and tail. Although they aren?t bones yet, but rather, the ?bone seeds? that will give rise to your baby's tiny vertebrae, ribs and sternum.

Grow Amaryllis... GROW!!

Hubby bought me an Amaryllis plant for my birthday back in November... simply put, it was an onion-type bulb in a tall glass vase... no flower as yet.

Last weekend I went to put it in the bin as it hadn't grown any in the time we'd had it However, I noticed the tiniest of green shoots inside the top of the bulb and wondered whether it may actually grow into a purty flower?!

So I just got back from my parents (went to visit them for the weekend). And as I pulled the car into the driveway.... this is what was waiting for me on our living room window sill.. (click on the images to see larger version)...

JenJen inspired me...

... to explain where the nickname "Snowbaby" came from. Well! Back in January 2000, when I very first got the internet, I went to visit a chatroom but couldn't think of a nickname for myself... then remembered the ornament I'd just gotten for mum for her Christmas, it was called "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" and was a Snowbaby...

And so... my screen name was born...

The ice cream thread

So, it's been a rough few days for me... very emotional... very up/down/up/down... I blame it on girlie hormones.

JenJen and FiFi decided it was time for ice cream... so for all of you out there feeling a little blue... grab a spoon and join in with the Ice Cream Blues!!

Bored....

I haven't blogged a ramble for a while so here I am... bored at work on bank holiday Monday... yes it's true, I'm a glutton for punishment and am working overtime on our day off Nuts aren't I??!!

The weather is so nice out as well... why did I volunteer for this nonsense?!

Will the month of May be our month for getting our baby? I sure hope so cos I'm tried both physically and emotionally. I never realised TTC could be so traumatic! People tell me to "relax" and "stop trying so hard" and "it'll happen when the time is right"... sod all that... how the heck can a TTCer relax?? It's just not gonna happen! And all the "it'll happen"... I know people mean well, but I'm impatient, tired, frustrated and fed up... I want our baby NOW dammit. I want to make my hubby a daddy NOW

Wish us luck...
