Kirsty graduated yesterday!

She moved from the baby spouty bottle for her water to using a big girl cup!

She's now using the Tommee Tippee Explora cup with handles... all by herself! She doesn't quite tip it up enough but she's getting there

  1. Wow, what a big girl!!! That's so great!

Regarding the sleep, etc. We started putting Matthew to bed at 8:00 pm now (in the past week or two maybe), which has helped a LOT. I think he was getting overtired from staying up too late and that's why it was so hard to get him down. He sleeps through the night some nights and some nights he wakes up a couple times in the first several hours after I put him down, if he hasn't eaten enough. It's great but when he sleeps through he only sleeps about 9.5 hours. Will he start going longer at some point? Sounds like maybe that's what happened with Kirsty? I hope so, we've had some wake up times at 5:40 a.m. which is really early for me!
Naps have been crappy, he keeps taking short ones and not getting enough rest. Not sure if it's developmental or a result of nursing to sleep. He's also had some meltdowns due to overtired/teething/reflus/gas/who knows?!
Overall though, we're all good. I'm really happy about bedtime not taking forever anymore. Just hoping naps will straighten out some more eventually. Right now he's taking 3 or 4 a day. I think he won't be able to drop any until he gets better about sleeping longer stretches for his naps.

  2. That's great he is sleeping better!!! Yes, Kirsty started out like that, the 5am get ups are a killer! I read online it's because he isn't used to having such a solid long sleep and so if/when he wakes (regardless of how early!), he feels really refreshed.
However, as he gets used to it, he will extend. It may take a few weeks though. Kirsty mostly sleeps 7:15pm-6 or 7am. And if she wakes earlier than 6am, I leave her to play in her cot until 7 (or slightly earlier if she gets cranky). This morning she woke at 5am as her head was stuck against the cot bars with her shuffling about in her sleep lol! She played until 6am when I got up as she got cranky.
He will extend his naps in time also. Kirsty has 2 naps now, 9:30am and 2/2:30pm. Usually 1-2hrs for each.
He sounds very like Kirsty on these things!!!
