Isn't it funny how one person's likes are another person's dislikes??
For example, I'm really not that keen on broccoli... Kirsty LOVES it!! She also LOVES peas. But how odd... she dislikes banana?! I thought all babies would love banana! She also had (extremley sour) apricot puree through her porridge this morning and enjoyed it!
But yeah, broccoli? It's got quite a strong "green veg" flavour to it... but she likes it! I'm glad though, I want her to have as broad a range of likes as possible!
I have an avacado in the fruit bowl, it's probably over-ripe now but with us having tried a new food in the last few days I was holding off with it. I'm intrigued to see what she makes of it though, again it's got an "acquired" taste. She's doing fab with eating solids, she just really enjoys eating from a spoon and enjoys her food!
I wonder how she will like avocado? My friend with triplets said all her loooove avocado.
ReplyDeleteI bet it's fun trying new things with her. Dh already tried to squeeze plum juice onto Matthew's lips...bad hubby!
Hey Fi, what would you say a normal A time is for a 3.5 month old? Do you remember? The baby whisperer forum is down or else I'd ask there. Matthew used to need a nap after an hour and 15-20 minutes, maybe hour and a half tops. But now seems like maybe more around after 2 hours? Does that sound reasonable? He isn't giving me good tired cues, like he'll yawn and I try to get him to sleep and he won't fall asleep, like he is not really tired. Or else he won't give any cues then all of a sudden is super fussy/overtired/won't go to sleep, ack! So looking at the clock might help if I had a good idea as to how long he "should" be staying awake.
ReplyDeleteProb 2 hrs is about right. Kirsty has only just graduated from 2hrs to about 2.5-3hrs. Do you have MSN? If so, PM me your addy on JMs and I'll add you xxx
ReplyDeleteHmm, today looks like it is still 1.5 hr or 1 hr, 45 min. He's still not giving me good tired cues though, I'm having to wait till he fusses a little to know when it's time. Ah well.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look in a bit and see if I have msn downloaded. I know I have AIM and yahoo messenger but I am not usually on b/c it slows my computer down a lot.
Thanks Fi!
Do you use Facebook?
ReplyDeleteWhen kirsty began to have longer awake spells through the day (prob around 3 months) she didn't give tired cues which is why I missed her and by the time I thought "perhaps she is tired", she was way overtired & wouldn't settle.
If I was to do it all again, I would give her 5-10mins quiet time at approx 1.5hrs after waking up, then try her for a sleep. If she didn't settle I'd let her play a little while, say 20mins and try again. I wouldn't wait for tired cues, just try him for a sleep.
Even now, I don't wait until Kirsty yawns/rubs her eyes/puts her hands up behind her head (these are her tired cues now), I know she needs to sleep approx 2 hrs after waking... now though it's about 2.5hrs.
